A breathtaking sandy memorial!

The 70th Anniversary of The Normandy landings became stimulus for many artists to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives contributing in today’s freedom! As part of the celebrations, two English artists to show the world the range of lost lives in that battle from both sides created a breathtaking sand sculpture memorial. Although it was vital for the Allied forces that great victory which essentially marked the beginning of the end for the second world war, it breaks your heart to be witness of thousands of dead bodies lying on these beaches, even if they are made of sand.
So, in memory of those who fell in D-Day, Jamie Wardley and Andy Moss the inspirations of this sandy monument, with the great help of many volunteers outlined these figures into the sand.

This is the martyrdom coast, where thousands of soldiers lost their lives.

Over 500 local residents and at least 60 volunteers joined together to create this temporary memorial.
With the help of paper designs they grubbed the sand and they continued for many kilometers, no matter if the water would erase it soon!

It is just amazing that the sketches are so alike with a dead body. The weird stance that a human body gets when it falls down from a gunshot.
As a small tribute to their great sacrifice we should remember those lost in serving their country and reserving the world peace. In every country's past there are heroes who defended the right of freedom. Every tribute to those who died in order to pass on a better world the next generations is a remarkable piece of work.
